Chairman of Lukoil board Maganov falls from hospital window, dies

MOSCOW, Sep 1 (PRIME) -- Chairman of Russian oil major Lukoil’ board of directors Ravil Maganov fell from the sixth-floor window of the Central Clinical Hospital in the west of Moscow in the morning, he died, according to information obtained by PRIME on Thursday.

A source in the law enforcement authorities told PRIME that Maganov, who was undergoing treatment in the hospital, has probably committed suicide.

The authorities are conducting a pre-investigation probe into the incident.

A representative of the hospital confirmed Maganov’s death without disclosing any details of the incident.

Lukoil confirmed Maganov’s death in a statement saying that he passed away “after serious illness.”

Maganov had served as first executive vice president for Lukoil’s exploration and development for many years before his appointment as the chairman of the board of directors in 2020.
